South West Regional 10m Air Rifle Development Group

Supporting the Future of Olympic Rifle Shooting in the South West

The South West Regional 10m Air Rifle Development Group has been established to provide a pathway for target shooters who wish to develop their skills beyond club level while remaining active members of their home clubs.

Based at Pinhoe, Exeter, the group meets monthly and brings together target shooters from across the South West who are interested in improving their 10m Air Rifle performance in a structured, supportive and progressive environment.

The initiative has been created through a collaboration between four NSRA County Coaches who are also ISSF-qualified coaches:

What Is the Aim of the Group?

The Development Group is designed to provide shooters with regular opportunities to:

• Train alongside other ambitious athletes.

• Access specialist coaching and technical support.

• Develop competition skills and match preparation.

• Learn more about equipment setup and optimisation.

• Improve physical, mental and technical aspects of performance.

• Explore pathways into regional and national performance programmes.

Importantly, the group is not intended to take athletes away from their clubs or coaches. Instead, it complements club shooting by providing additional development opportunities that may not always be available within individual clubs.

The aim is to strengthen 10m Air Rifle shooting across the South West and help athletes reach their full potential while continuing to represent and support their home clubs.

Open to All Ages

One of the unique features of the South West Regional Development Group is that it is open to target shooters of all ages.

While some national development programmes focus primarily on younger athletes, the South West Regional Group welcomes:

• Junior target shooters

• Adult target shooters

• New competitors looking to progress

• Experienced athletes seeking structured & modern coaching

The only requirement is a genuine desire to improve and learn.

Gateway Into Olympic-Style Shooting

The Development Group forms part of the growing Southern South West Regional Gateway into Olympic Rifle Shooting, helping shooters understand and access the wider opportunities available within the sport.

For some athletes, this may provide a stepping stone towards British Shooting development programmes and higher-level competition. For others, it offers the opportunity to enjoy high-quality coaching and personal improvement without necessarily pursuing an elite performance pathway.

Whatever your ambitions, the group provides a welcoming and supportive environment in which to develop.
